Trail Advocacy

As outdoor enthusiasts, Sport Systems MountainTop Cycling recognizes the need to give back to the trails that we enjoy throughout the year. Therefore, we have agreed to adopt a trail in the foothills trail system of Albuquerque. This trail is in Elena Gallegos area, and is a part of the Albuquerque Open Space, which encompasses over 28,000 acres in and around Albuquerque.
The plan is to have a workday in early spring, and more information will be posted here as the workday is scheduled.

Race Promotion

Sport Systems MountainTop Cycling promotes the New Mexico Mountain Bike Championship. Proceeds benefit New Mexico Extreme Sports Association - encouraging New Mexican youth to get involved in gravity sports. Other benefactors of this race have been the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation – helping CF mean “Cure Found”. Since this is the NM Championship race, the largest attendance in the state is guaranteed. The event will be held at Cedro Peak Campground, 10 miles east of Albuquerque, NM. The race is also in the NM Off Road Series Race ensuring NMORS Series racers attendance. This will be the largest team sponsored event of the year. Attendance goal is 200 racers+ from all across the region and our goals are to have it known as “the best MTB race in the state”.

Mountain Bike Skills Clinic / Kids Races

These fun events are geared toward improving the skills of entry level to expert level mountain bikers or getting our youngest riders involved. Our goal is to help at least 50 riders in two races, one at the The Sandia Peak Challenge, and the second at The NM Mountain Bike Championships – “Cedro Peak’s Greatest Hits”, both events in the Albuquerque area.
We also have a Kids Bike Rodeo at Sunland Park Mall or RE Thomason Hospital. This fun event is geared to help people get involved in the healthy sport of biking by covering; bicycle safety and skills.
